SHOW NOTES

Understanding God's will is an essential aspect of the Christian faith. As believers, we often seek to know and follow God's will for our lives, but what exactly does it entail? In this week’s podcast, we will explore three aspects of God's will: His Sovereign Will, His Moral Will, and His Individual Will. Through examining these aspects, we can better understand God's plans and purposes for us and how we can align our lives with His will. Let us delve into these three aspects of God's will and discover the beauty and blessings of living in harmony with our Creator.

1. God's Sovereign Will: This refers to God's ultimate plan for the entire universe, which he has determined before the foundation of the world. This plan cannot be thwarted by human beings or any other force. It includes all events, both good and bad, that occur in the world. This plan is often seen as mysterious and beyond human comprehension.

Psalm 115:3 says, "Our God is in the heavens; he does all that he pleases." This verse emphasizes God's sovereignty, which means that God is in control of all things and that nothing happens without his permission. It reminds us that God's plans and purposes will ultimately prevail, even when human beings and circumstances seem to be working against them.

2. God's Moral Will: This refers to God's revealed commands and instructions for human conduct. It is found in the Bible and is often expressed in terms of "thou shalt" and "thou shalt not." God's moral will includes things like loving your neighbor as yourself, not stealing, not committing adultery, and so on. It is the standard by which God judges human behavior.

Psalm 19:7-11 says, "The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward."

This passage emphasizes the perfection, reliability, and righteousness of God's moral will, which can revive the soul, make the simple wise, rejoice the heart, and enlighten the eyes. By following God's moral will, as revealed in the Bible, believers can be warned of the dangers of sin and receive great reward in keeping his commands.By following his moral will, believers can experience the blessings and rewards of a close relationship with God.

3. God's Individual Will: This refers to God's specific plan for each person's life. It is the unique purpose and calling that God has for each individual. This may include things like career choices, relationships, and personal growth. At times, individuals may experience anxiety, wondering whether they are fulfilling God's will for their lives. Did they attend the right college? Marry the right person? Purchase the right house? Pursue the correct career? What if God is calling them to something else, but they have yet to comprehend His plan for their life?

We are here to offer you comfort and assurance: if you are earnestly seeking to follow God's moral will, prioritizing His desires above all else, and genuinely yearning for His will to manifest in your life, then you have not made the wrong choice. Follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit, heed the signposts along the way, and maintain a prayerful relationship with the Lord through His Word - then you can rest assured that you are walking in God's individual will for your life.

As believers, we are called to trust in God's sovereignty, to obey His moral will, and to seek His individual will for our lives. It is not always easy, and at times we may face challenges and difficulties, but we can take heart in knowing that God is in control, that His commands are righteous and true, and that His plans for us are good. So let us take up the challenge of pursuing God's will in every area of our lives, trusting that as we do so, we will experience the blessings of a life lived in harmony with our Creator. Let us be encouraged by the words of Psalm 37:4, "Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart." May we seek to delight ourselves in the Lord and trust that He will guide us on the path He has set for us.
