SHOW NOTES

Welcome to a new week of the Hope Rescue Podcast. This week Kimberly is back and she and Tim are starting a new short series on the topic of shame.

James 5:19-20 says, "My brothers, if anyone among you wanders from the truth and someone brings him back, let him know that whoever brings back a sinner from his wandering will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.”

All humans have experienced shame in their lives. No one is exempt from this experience, whether we want to admit it or not. As Christians, creating safety for people who have failed is one of the disciplines of the Christian life.

When we are dealing with people who experience shame in their lives, it’s not crucial for their sin to be exposed to the whole world. When we bring our brothers and sisters back to the truth after they have wandered, we help save their soul from the death that sin brings to our hearts.

The difference between shame and guilt is this: guilt is the feeling that we’ve done something wrong, while shame is the feeling that WE are wrong. Join us next week as we continue the discussion on shame.
